Jacopo Poli Vespaiolo Grappa - 500 ml
Introduction
Jacopo Poli Vespaiolo Grappa is a premium artisanal spirit from Italy, specifically produced in the Veneto region within the Breganze hills. The Poli Distillerie was founded in 1898 by GioBatta Poli in the village of Schiavon, near Bassano del Grappa. Still solely owned by the Poli family, the distillery is currently managed by the fourth generation, including Jacopo Poli and his siblings.
Spirit Description
This single vintage grappa is crafted from the fresh pomace of aromatic Vespaiolo grapes, which are grown in volcanic soils and distilled in antique copper steam boilers. The spirit is typically aged for at least six months in stainless steel tanks before bottling to maintain its youthful character.
Colour: The spirit is crystal clear with a glossy, silvery appearance.
Aroma: It features an intense floral and fruity bouquet with unique scents of wisteria blossom, lotus flower, and green apple, followed by notes of citrus oil, honey, and fresh figs.
Palate: The palate offers a silky, delicate entry with an incredible depth of rich flavours including honeycomb, sultana, and plum.
Body: This grappa is characterized by a medium body with a soft, round structure and 'ballerina like' poise.
Finish: It concludes with a long, fresh finish that evolves into a subtle aftertaste of toasted nuts, cocoa, and citrus peel.
ABV: While specific ABV can vary by batch, grappas of this type typically range between 35% and 60%, with this expression often bottled at 40%.
Food Pairing
The refined sweetness and aromatic intensity of this grappa make it an ideal choice for the end of a meal.
Savoury: It creates a fascinating contrast when served alongside aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or sharp blue cheeses.
Sweet: The notes of honey and dried fruit pair perfectly with dark chocolate, hazelnut desserts, or artisanal cantucci biscuits.
Serving: For the best sensory experience, it should be served neat at a temperature between 10°C and 13°C in a tulip shaped glass.
